Pirate Chest Piñata
Party time! Here is an idea on how to make the easiest piñata ever: a pirate treasure chest!
You will need:
1. A cardboard box and/or light cardboard
2. Paper tape
3. Kitchen paper (optional)
4. Crepe paper
5. Glue
6. Wire and a hard piece of plastic/wood for the hanger
7. A treasure! (chocolate coins ;))
If you start with a box, best would be to un-assemble it, to make sure it breaks later. Your main pieces: four sides, a bottom and a top. You will also need two small semi-circles to join the sides with the top (not pictured in the first photo).

Put your box together with paper tape. Don't close the lid yet.
Make a hole in the middle of the lid. Put a wire through, and wrap around a long hard piece of plastic or wood to make sure your hanger doesn't pierce the cardboard later. I used some plastic spoons for support (pretty much anything would do):
Fill your treasure chest with booty of your choice:
Close the lid and make stronger with some paper mache. I used plain kitchen paper and glue. Be careful not to make it too strong, otherwise it won't break when you hit it (true story).
Cut your crepe paper in long stripes, then cut them on one side. Glue to your box, starting from the bottom.
Let dry, preferably overnight, and put a cardboard lock on it. Then hang your piñata and let the pirates attack!
