Paper Headdress
Yes, a war bonnet, in our case, a birthday boy crown for a pow wow party. Pretty easy craft, looking pretty impressive in the end!
You will need:
Light cardboard (two sheets A4 for a toddler head)
Pieces of felt
Straws ( I used paper straws)
Beads
Yarn
Printed paper feathers (I used the free printable by Talking Tables)
Real colored feathers
Hot glue
First, you cut out the shape of cardboard you will be working on. This will be your front piece. The back piece you can measure and staple later, depending on the size of the head you are making it for.
Start decorating your front by adding felt triangles. Disclaimer: all colors here chosen by the birthday boy, we didn't go for genuine Native American look. After all, it was for a party, not a war :)

Hot glue the triangles, and little beads between them. Add another size triangles inside. For this bottom part of the headdress you can choose any other geometric shape you like.
Cut your straws into small pieces and wrap yarn around them as showed. Hot glue to your front piece.
Insert paper and real feathers. Here the link for the printable I used (only enlarged) and another idea you could use:
Staple the back side to the front and hide the staples with round pieces of cardboard, decorated with feathers and beads. And you're ready to pick your Indian American name :)
