Dinosaur party
It all started with Jessica from Running with scissors and her great tutorial. Somehow the idea of trying out my not-so-great sewing skills on a less demanding project was tempting. Little did I know how demanding the project would get :D So, here we go, our Dinosaur party:
Step one: make dinosaur tails for the kids. Ok, adults can have some too. Bear in mind, you will need to plan that ahead, and have plenty of time and material. Detailed instructions here:
Step two: decide on the menu. Since it was a toddler party, I got small bottles of water, and ordered some paper lunch boxes with dinosaurs, which I packed with fruit, home-made pretzels and muffins, and a napkin for each kid. To mark each box and bottle of water, I printed personalized stickers with the names of our guests. Those were fun!

I copied their dinosaurs, put a little frame for each one on Paint, added the name and voilá :)
To make fruit more exciting, I made little dinosaur eggs stickers and packed assorted grapes and blueberries. For the packs I used halves of sandwitch bags, and sealed them on the grill. Would work with an iron, too.
Then, the dinosaur egg hunt. I put together papier mache dinosaur eggs. It's easy - all you need is a baloon, flour, water and salt for the glue, kitchen paper and paint of your choice. Oh, and time! I put little plastic dinosaurs inside, the kids loved the idea.

And, since we were outside, I made those cute dinosaur chalks. They are also easier than you think - you mix plaster of Paris, water and colour, and you put into silicone molds. Would work well with melted crayons, too.

The highlight of the day, THE CAKE! Adapted from:
Was an amazing experience to make, and even more amazing to eat :). And yes, you don't necessarily need an airbrush.
For the birthday boy (and his sister), I also created little hats. I used plain green baseball hats, and added eyes and teeth out of felt and spikes from thin foam. I glued it all together with the good old glue gun. Sorry for the blurry image, my dinosaur was moving. A lot. :)))
I hope I managed to inspire you at least a little. Have fun!
