Sock Monkey
An easy way to turn socks into best buddies.
Stitch together the body, leaving an opening at the crotch. Use it to turn the body right side out.
Sew together the arms, tail and ears, and turn. You should have something like this:
Ok, I just saw the tail is not turned. You can turn it while stuffing it. Which is our next step. Once you're done stuffing, sew a small piece of felt where the eyes will be. This step is optional if you are using button eyes.
Stuff all your parts (here is where I lost this little monkey's mouth):
Pays to have extra pairs in case you loose your monkey's mouth or ears. Speaking of that, here is how you attach the mouth. Note I have put pins to indicate where the piece should end - you can directly pin the fabric instead.
Add the ears, stich a smile, sew the arms and tail, fix the eyes.
Add the ears, stich a smile, sew the arms and tail, fix the eyes.
My sock had the size printed on it, so I covered it with a little felt heart with the name of the girl this pretty monkey belongs to.
Tutu-time! For this tutu I used an elastic band, some tulle and a bath sponge. Bath sponges make for extra huggable tutus. :)
We're almost ready, here is Ms. Monkey, front and back:
And now, for a little detail to make her look more like a real monkey: velcro!
There you go, you got yourself a monkey. Now go make some friends for her. Happy crafting!
